Troops Deal Major Blow to Terrorists in Zamfara and Sokoto, Eliminate Top Commanders

In a decisive operation against terrorism in the North-West, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have eliminated several notorious terrorist commanders and dismantled multiple hideouts in Zamfara and Sokoto states.

The military offensive, conducted between February 1 and 10, 2025, significantly weakened terrorist networks in the region, bringing a renewed sense of security to affected communities.

According to Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, the high-profile terrorists neutralized include Kachalla Na Faransa, Dogon Bakkwalo, Auta Gobaje, and Dan Mai Dutsi. The intense battles took place in Shinkafi and Zurmi LGAs of Zamfara State, as well as Isa LGA in Sokoto State.

Troops also targeted and destroyed over 40 terrorist hideouts, including those in Tungar Fulani, Unguwar Goga, Gangara Hill, and Gidan Maji. Additionally, a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, preventing further attacks, while dozens of kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.

Abdullahi reaffirmed the military’s commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist elements across the North-West and parts of Niger State. He urged the public to provide intelligence on fleeing terrorists, including the notorious Bello Turji and his associates, assuring that all information would be handled with strict confidentiality.

This latest operation marks a significant step forward in efforts to restore peace and security in northwest Nigeria.
