The Remains of Former President Buhari Laid to Rest in Daura

The burial ceremony of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, is now complete in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
Mr. Buhari passed away earlier this week after a brief illness. He served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023 and was also a former military head of state from 1983 to 1985.
The funeral has drawn several national and international dignitaries, including top government officials, political leaders, and traditional rulers.
According to the Premium Times: “The remains of the late President arrived at the Emir of Daura’s palace for Islamic prayers before being moved to the family burial ground.”

Security has been tightened in Daura, with personnel from various agencies ensuring smooth coordination of the event.
In a statement, President Bola Tinubu said: “President Buhari’s legacy of discipline, anti-corruption, and national service will continue to inspire future generations.”
