Wow! Reports by premium time says Gunmen, yet to be identified, targeted the office of the Anambra State Vigilante Group in Amichi, a community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Nigeria’s southeastern Anambra State.

The attack occurred around 7 a.m. on Thursday, with residents reporting that the assailants arrived in multiple vehicles, including a white Sienna and an SUV. They engaged vigilante operatives in a shootout before setting a man ablaze, whose identity remains undisclosed at this time

According to a resident named Uche Okoye, during the attack on the Anambra State Vigilante Group office in Amichi, the vigilante operatives abandoned their Sienna vehicle and fled, leading the gunmen to set the vehicle ablaze.

Sadly, a man hiding behind the vehicle was shot and burnt beyond recognition during the hour-long attack. The assailants remained at the scene for a while to ensure the fire consumed the vehicle and the victim before leaving. A circulating video on Facebook depicts the aftermath of the attack, showing the burning vehicle and residents lamenting the situation.

Some attempted to extinguish the fire and identify the victim, while others called for firefighter assistance. Additionally, a section of the security office was also destroyed in the attack. Nigerian soldiers and other security operatives later arrived at the scene. Anambra State police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

These attacks reflect the worsening security situation in Anambra State and other states in Nigeria's southeast, with frequent assaults targeting security agencies, government officials, and facilities.
