28 Killed, Dozens Missing in Katsina Terrorist Attack as Military Reports Killing 109 Terrorists Nationwide

No fewer than 28 people were killed and dozens remain missing following a terrorist attack on Baure Village in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attack occurred last Tuesday, with terrorists storming the agrarian community, ransacking homes and shops, and killing 17 villagers on the spot. They later burned the corpses of 11 other victims. A local security official, speaking anonymously, reported that over 20 residents are still unaccounted for.
Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed that 21 individuals were “fatally shot” during the ambush, which targeted members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps and vigilante group returning from a condolence visit. Police operatives intervened to restore calm and have launched efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Military disclosed that troops across various operations nationwide killed 109 terrorists, arrested 81 others, and rescued 43 kidnapped hostages in the first week of the year.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed that troops recovered 21 weapons, 124 rounds of ammunition, and N600 million worth of crude oil stolen in the Niger Delta region. The military also destroyed illegal oil refining sites and recovered large quantities of stolen fuel products.
General Buba emphasized the military’s sustained focus on counter-insurgency efforts, promising citizens increased efficiency in ongoing operations.
